Harvey’s Beginnings

Harvey originated as a tropical wave off the coast of Africa on August 13, 2017, gradually developing into Tropical Storm Harvey on August 17 after a few days of meandering in the Atlantic.

Harvey’s Journey

Moving through the Caribbean and into the Gulf of Mexico, Harvey regained strength and intensified into a category four hurricane before making its destructive landfall near Rockport, Texas.

Impact and Aftermath

The aftermath of Harvey was catastrophic, leading to widespread flooding, structural damage, power outages, and infrastructural disruptions in the affected areas.

According to the National Weather Service, the devastation caused by Harvey resulted in over $125 billion in damages, making it one of the costliest hurricanes in U.S. history.

Even years later, the impact of Hurricane Harvey continues to be felt, serving as a stark reminder of the power and unpredictability of nature.
