Welcome to the 30th Anniversary Performance of “Rio Bravo” at Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center!
SAN ANTONIO – Get ready to experience the vibrant music and dance traditions of the Texas-Mexico border region as “Rio Bravo” celebrates its 30th anniversary performance at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center in September.
“Rio Bravo” is a mesmerizing performance by Guadalupe Dance Company and Mariachi Azteca de América that showcases five chronological segments highlighting the rich music and dance traditions of the Texas-Mexico border area.
The performers’ costumes and choreography will bring to life different aspects of life and history along the Rio Grande, creating a truly immersive experience, according to a press release.
Renowned visual artist and folklórico director, Rafael Zamarripa, was hired by the center to create the choreography, costumes, scenery, and lighting designs for the show, adding his unique touch to the performance, the release said.
Inspired by exhibitions at the Witte Museum and a painting by Thomas Allen, Zamarripa’s vision for “Rio Bravo” promises to be a visual feast for the audience.
