Welcome to The Wonder Theatre’s Production of “The Prom” in San Antonio!
SAN ANTONIO – The Wonder Theatre is thrilled to present the Broadway musical “The Prom” in San Antonio for a four-week engagement.
The musical follows the journey of four fading Broadway stars as they travel to a conservative town in Indiana to support a lesbian student who has been banned from bringing her girlfriend to the high school prom, as stated in a news release.
Based on true events from 2010 in Itawamba County, Mississippi, this musical sheds light on the struggles faced by LGBTQ+ youth in today’s society.
Director Chris Rodriguez reflects on the changing times, saying, “The world has changed since I was in high school, and I would have never thought that taking a boy to prom would have been an option. Today’s youth have it better than we had it, but it’s still not an easy road for them.”
The Wonder Theatre is hosting special community nights for this production:
- Student/Educator Night: Oct. 5 ($12 tickets with discount code ‘DANCESCHOOL’)
- ASL Night: Oct. 11
- Military & First Responders Night: Oct. 12
- Pride Night: Oct. 25
