The Ultimate “Game of Thrones” Auction: A Chance to Own a Piece of TV History
After following the gripping tale of “Game of Thrones” for eight seasons, fans can now embark on a new adventure that rivals the excitement of the battle for the Iron Throne: an auction featuring iconic memorabilia from the HBO series.
The auction, hosted by Heritage Auctions in October, will offer over 2,000 items spanning 900 lots, including costumes, props, set pieces, and memorabilia from the beloved show that concluded in 2019. From Jaime Lannister’s full armor and sword to White Walker prosthetic teeth, the starting bids range from $500 to $20,000, catering to fans of all budgets.
Notable items up for grabs include Daenerys Targaryen’s signature attire worn by Emilia Clarke, Jon Snow’s remarkable Longclaw sword wielded by Kit Harington, and the Hand of the Queen Pin sported by Peter Dinklage as Tyrion Lannister. Even lesser-known pieces like Cersei Lannister’s bell from her walk of shame and garb from the infamous Red Wedding are expected to draw attention and fervent bidding.
HBO’s senior vice president, Jay Roewe, emphasized the cultural impact of “Game of Thrones” and the significance of the auction in allowing fans to own a piece of television history as the series continues to resonate with audiences even five years after its conclusion.
The meticulous preservation and quality of the items, accumulated over the show’s decade-spanning run, are now being made available for fans to appreciate and own. Collaborating with HBO, Heritage Auctions has curated a diverse collection to ensure that fans and collectors find a range of characters’ costumes and props to bid on.
The auction, set to take place on October 10-12, will showcase the craftsmanship and attention to detail that made “Game of Thrones” a visual masterpiece. Fans can preview the collection at Heritage Auctions’ locations in New York and London from September 17 to October 4, offering a unique opportunity to own a piece of the show’s legacy.
