WASHINGTON – Exciting news for Americans as they can now order free COVID-19 test kits that will be conveniently mailed to their homes starting this month. U.S. households can request up to four nasal swab tests at COVIDTests.gov when the federal program reopens. The exact date for ordering has not been announced yet by the U.S. Health and Human Services agency overseeing the program.
These at-home tests are designed to detect current virus strains and can be ordered just in time for the holiday season, allowing families and friends to gather for celebrations with peace of mind.
In addition, U.S. regulators recently approved an updated COVID-19 vaccine to combat the latest virus strains, including those expected in the upcoming winter. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends this fall’s vaccine for everyone age 6 months and older.
While many Americans have some form of immunity from previous infections or vaccinations, this protection may diminish over time. It’s important to note that last year’s vaccines targeted a different strain that is no longer prevalent.
