Man Shot and Killed in Altercation at Walmart Parking Lot
SAN ANTONIO – A tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of Monday morning at a Walmart on the city’s South Side. A man in his 30s lost his life after being shot during an altercation in the parking lot, according to San Antonio police.
Officers responded to a call just before 7 a.m. at the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Southeast Military Drive. They found a man critically wounded at the scene, not far from Stinson-Mission Municipal Airport.
According to authorities, a man in his 70s or 80s, accompanied by a woman, engaged in a heated argument with the victim inside a vehicle. The situation escalated when the older man, for reasons unknown, brandished a firearm and shot the younger man.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds to his back and arm, resulting in his tragic demise.
The suspect is now in police custody, though authorities have yet to interview him. It remains uncertain whether any charges will be filed in connection with the incident.
Investigations reveal that the shooter, who was reportedly living or sleeping in his truck, clashed with the homeless man who ultimately lost his life.
The motive behind the argument remains unclear, and the identity of the deceased has not been disclosed. Surveillance footage from Walmart has been obtained by investigators to shed light on the tragic events.
The San Antonio Police Department, along with the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS, swiftly responded to the scene.
