Family honors woman killed in hit-and-run on NW Side

SAN ANTONIO – Maria Martinez was more than just a name. To her daughter, Veronica Martinez, she was an angel on earth, a source of pride, and the pillar of their family.

Tragically, Maria Martinez’s life was cut short in a devastating crash on Babcock Road at the age of 67. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed her identity, leaving her family in disbelief and grief.

According to San Antonio police, Maria was struck by a car while crossing the street, a fatal accident that shattered her loved ones. As they try to cope with the loss, they are left seeking answers and closure.

The hit-and-run incident not only claimed Maria Martinez’s life but also left another victim, believed to be in his 60s, injured and hospitalized. The family’s pain is compounded by the fact that Maria was on her way to work, walking from the bus stop, when the tragedy occurred.

In their grief, Maria’s family calls for caution on the streets and forgiveness for the responsible parties. They want justice for Maria, a chance for her to rest in peace knowing that accountability will be served.

A memorial now stands as a tribute to Maria Martinez on the roadside, a reminder of the life and legacy she leaves behind. The family vows to honor her memory by staying strong and pushing forward, as Maria would have wanted.
