LOS ANGELES – Convicted con artist Anna Sorokin has taken center stage on “Dancing With the Stars” with a featherweight — and very sparkly — ankle monitor. The so-called ‘fake heiress,’ who was convicted of swindling banks, hotels, and friends in 2019, graced the ballroom with her presence during the show’s premiere on Tuesday night.
Despite the unconventional accessory, Sorokin flaunted her bedazzled ankle monitor with grace and style. The dance pro, Ezra Sosa, even called it the “real star of the show.” Sorokin herself seemed unfazed, stating that the device was lightweight and inconspicuous.
Reflecting on her performance, Sorokin expressed relief that the debut was over, admitting that she hoped for a better routine. Despite early negative reviews from fans, she remains optimistic that viewers will give her a chance to prove herself on the dance floor.
While Sorokin’s past may haunt her, she continues to strive for redemption. After being released from prison in 2021, immigration authorities detained her for overstaying her visa, leading to a year-long custody battle. Now out on home confinement, she travels between New York and Los Angeles for filming, all while fighting deportation to her native Germany.
