Stage 4 Water Restrictions Declared for Edwards Aquifer Authority Permit Holders
In response to declining water levels, the Edwards Aquifer Authority has implemented Stage 4 water restrictions for permit holders in several counties in the remote San Antonio area.
The impacted counties include Atascosa, Bexar, Caldwell, Comal, Guadalupe, Hays, and Medina.
As of Aug. 22, the water level at the J-17 index well in Bexar County is 629.7 feet above average sea level, leading to the escalation of the authority’s critical period management plan to Stage 4.
Under Stage 4 restrictions, annual water withdrawal amounts for affected customers have been reduced by 40%.
These restrictions apply to all Edwards Aquifer customers, including water utility companies, industrial, and agricultural permit holders.
Residents and businesses in the affected counties are advised to follow guidelines from their water providers to ensure responsible water usage.
