The Latin Grammy Awards is back with a bang, and this year, producer and songwriter Édgar Barrera is dominating the scene with a whopping nine nominations. Known for his stellar work with artists like Madonna, Karol G, Peso Pluma, Shakira, Grupo Frontera, and more, Barrera is no stranger to success. Last year, he walked away with three wins out of 13 nominations, and this year, he’s looking to add to his collection.
The Latin Recording Academy announced the nominees in a livestream on Tuesday, revealing Barrera’s nods for producer, songwriter, record, and album of the year. He’s also a double nominee in the best Regional Mexican song category and a triple nominee in the song of the year category. Some of his closest collaborators, like Karol G and Bad Bunny, are not far behind with eight nominations each.
Colombian songwriter Keityn also made a splash with six nods, making this year’s Latin Grammy Awards one to watch. The event is set to take place on November 14 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, promising a night full of Latin music’s biggest stars.
With categories like record of the year and album of the year boasting impressive lineups, including hits from Drexler, Anitta, Camilo, Mon Laferte, and more, the competition is fierce. Barrera’s magic touch can be felt in multiple nominations, showcasing his versatility and talent in the industry.
In addition to the main categories, the Latin Grammys have introduced two new categories: best Latin electronic music performance and best contemporary Mexican music album, as well as a new field dedicated to electronic music. The show will be broadcast live on Univision, Galavisión, and ViX, starting at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
