The Philadelphia Eagles Acquire Wide Receiver Jahan Dotson from Washington Commanders
In a surprising move, the Philadelphia Eagles have added to their receiving corps by acquiring Jahan Dotson from the Washington Commanders. This rare deal between NFC East rivals involved the Eagles giving up a third-round pick and two seventh-round picks from the 2025 draft in exchange for Dotson and a fifth-round pick in the same draft.
Dotson, a first-round pick out of Penn State in 2022, was deemed surplus to requirements by the new regime in Washington led by GM Adam Peters and coach Dan Quinn. Along with Dotson, other high draft picks from previous drafts, such as cornerback Emmanuel Forbes and linebacker Jamin Davis, also found themselves on the outs.
With the Eagles, Dotson is expected to slot in as the No. 3 receiver behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. His speed and explosiveness will add a new dimension to the Eagles’ offense, providing quarterback Jalen Hurts with another reliable target alongside their star receivers.
Head coach Kellen Moore praised the competition at the receiver position in training camp, acknowledging the need for a more consistent option beyond the top two targets. Dotson’s arrival fills that void and brings a fresh dynamic to the Eagles’ passing game.
