Dak Prescott Signs Historic $240 Million Contract with Dallas Cowboys
The anticipation and speculation surrounding Dak Prescott’s contract negotiations with the Dallas Cowboys have finally come to an end. Just hours before the season opener at Cleveland, Prescott and the Cowboys reached an agreement on a groundbreaking contract worth $240 million over four years.
This historic deal makes Prescott the first NFL player to earn an average of $60 million per season. The contract includes $231 million in guaranteed money, surpassing the previous record for fully guaranteed deals in the NFL.
Ever since being drafted by the Cowboys, Prescott has been a pivotal player leading the team to the playoffs five times in his first eight years. However, the team has yet to make a significant postseason breakthrough since their last Super Bowl win in 1995.
Prescott, who has repeatedly expressed his desire to remain with the Cowboys, now has the opportunity to guide the team past the divisional round for the first time in nearly three decades.
This contract extension comes shortly after Dallas secured All-Pro receiver CeeDee Lamb with a lucrative deal. The Cowboys are clearly investing in their key players for the long term.
Prescott’s journey with the Cowboys began in 2016 when he was drafted as a fourth-round pick. An unexpected opportunity arose for him to start in his rookie season, and he made an immediate impact leading the team to an 11-game winning streak.
Throughout his career, Prescott has been recognized for his outstanding performance on the field. He has set numerous records and continues to climb the ranks among the franchise’s legendary quarterbacks.
With this new contract, Prescott is poised to lead the Cowboys to greater success and possibly rewrite the team’s postseason history.
