SAN ANTONIO – A pedestrian was left with life-threatening injuries following a collision with a vehicle on Interstate 37 on Saturday afternoon, as reported by San Antonio police.
The incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. on I-37 southbound near Southeast Military Drive.
According to authorities, the driver of a Ford Explorer was traveling southbound in one lane and attempting to overtake another vehicle when they noticed a pedestrian standing at the side of the interstate, seemingly trying to cross.
The driver stated that the pedestrian made a sudden dash in front of another car in a different lane, leading to the collision with the Ford Explorer.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene and rushed the pedestrian to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
SAPD closed off I-37 for investigation purposes, reopening the interstate later that night.
The driver stayed at the scene and fully cooperated with the police investigation, with SAPD announcing that no charges are expected to be filed against them.
