Exciting News for Dallas Cowboys Fans!
The Dallas Cowboys have made some major moves to strengthen their defense, with the acquisition of veteran defensive tackle Jordan Phillips from the New York Giants. This trade also involves two 2026 draft picks, adding even more firepower to the Cowboys lineup.
But that’s not all – the Cowboys are also signing former Cincinnati Bengals and New York Jets edge rusher Carl Lawson, further solidifying their defense for the upcoming season.
Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy expressed his excitement about the new additions, saying, “These guys have played, they got pelts on the wall. They have different skill sets, obviously, different positions. So, I mean, just like anything, their experience level will definitely be an asset.”
The deal for Phillips is expected to be finalized soon, with the Cowboys also receiving a seventh-round pick in 2026. In exchange, the Giants will get a sixth-round choice.
Phillips, a 31-year-old veteran, brings a wealth of experience to the Cowboys’ defensive line. With his addition, the team hopes to see improvement from young talent like Mazi Smith, who is looking to bounce back from a disappointing rookie season.
Having played for multiple teams over nine seasons, Phillips is no stranger to the game. His career highlights include 9 1/2 sacks and 13 tackles for loss while with the Buffalo Bills in 2019.
Meanwhile, Lawson, a first-round draft pick in 2017, has 27 career sacks in 74 games over six seasons. His experience playing in the defensive system that new coordinator Mike Zimmer is installing makes him a valuable addition to the Cowboys’ roster.
With these new additions and the recent loss of defensive end Sam Williams to injury, the Cowboys are gearing up for an exciting season ahead. Keep an eye on their revamped defense as they look to dominate the field in the upcoming games.
