Welcome to Hispanic Heritage Month in San Antonio!
Hispanic Heritage Month is back in San Antonio to celebrate the history and culture of Hispanic and Latino communities. This month-long celebration allows us to acknowledge the unique contributions and achievements of these vibrant cultures.
The festivities kick off on Sept. 15 and run through Oct. 15. During this time, several Central American countries celebrate their independence days, making it the perfect period to commemorate Hispanic Heritage Month.
Here’s a list of exciting events happening around the city to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month:
- Avenida Guadalupe Association: Join the annual Dieciséis de Septiembre Parade on Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. It’s a free event that starts at the corner of Brazos Street and Guadalupe Street on the West Side.
- “Always Pa’delante” Mural Installation: Check out this new mural by artist Edefroy “Froy” Padilla at Pearl’s Shaded Structure from Sept. 13 to Oct. 15. The mural features cultural icons like César Chávez and Frida Kahlo.
- Centro Cultural Aztlan: Explore the free exhibit “Newspaper Boys: Ayer y Hoy en San Anto” showcasing the evolution of news spreading. On view until Oct. 17.
