Exploding Pagers in Lebanon and Syria Linked to Taiwanese Company Gold Apollo
Recently, Taiwanese company Gold Apollo made headlines after it was revealed that the pagers used in explosions in Lebanon and Syria were authorized under their brand. However, Gold Apollo clarified that another company, BAC Consulting KFT based in Budapest, was responsible for manufacturing these explosive pagers.
According to a statement from Gold Apollo, the AR-924 pagers used by the Hezbollah militant group were produced by BAC, which had the authorization to use Gold Apollo’s trademark in certain regions. Gold Apollo emphasized that they only provided brand trademark authorization and were not involved in the design or manufacturing of the product.
Experts suspect that explosive materials were discreetly placed inside the pagers during the manufacturing process, implicating a sophisticated supply chain infiltration.
Gold Apollo’s chairman, Hsu Ching-kuang, revealed that the company had an authorization agreement with BAC for the past three years. He explained, “This company has been a partner to us, representing many of our products. They expressed interest in manufacturing pagers and requested the use of our brand name.” Hsu clarified that the design of the products involved in the explosions was the responsibility of BAC.
When questioned about further details on BAC or evidence of their agreement, Hsu and other Gold Apollo representatives remained tight-lipped and chose not to disclose additional information.
