Brian May of Queen Reveals Minor Stroke, Promises to Keep Rocking
LONDON – Brian May, the legendary lead guitarist of the iconic British rock band Queen, made a shocking revelation on Wednesday. He disclosed that he recently suffered a “minor stroke” which temporarily affected his arm.
Despite the health scare, the 77-year-old musician assured fans in a video on his website that he was doing “OK.” However, he admitted that he was currently “grounded” and advised against activities that could elevate his heart rate.
May shared, “I’m here to bring you first of all some good news, I think, good news is that I can play guitar after the events of the last few days. And I say this because it was in some doubt because that little health hiccup that I mentioned, happened about a week ago, and what they called it was a minor stroke and all of a sudden, out of the blue, I didn’t have any control over this arm.”
Reflecting on the experience, May admitted that it was a bit frightening but expressed gratitude for the “fantastic care” he received at his local hospital in Surrey.
“I really don’t want sympathy,” May asserted. “Please don’t do that because it will clutter up my inbox and I hate that!”
Despite the scare, May and Queen drummer Roger Taylor have continued to captivate audiences with their electrifying performances even after the passing of the band’s iconic frontman Freddie Mercury in 1991.
