Christian Yelich to Undergo Season-Ending Back Surgery
MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Brewers announced that outfielder Christian Yelich will be undergoing season-ending back surgery. Yelich made the decision after consulting with medical professionals, and Dr. Brandon Rebholz is set to perform the surgery in Milwaukee on Friday.
The 32-year-old Yelich has been sidelined since July 23 and will now be focusing on recovery and rehabilitation. Despite his injury, Yelich had an impressive season, earning his third All-Star Game selection. He was hitting .315 with a .406 on-base percentage, along with 11 home runs, 42 RBIs, and 21 stolen bases in 73 games.
This news comes as a blow to the Brewers, who will now have to adjust their lineup without one of their star players. Yelich’s absence will surely be felt on the field, but the team will have to rally together to make up for his loss.
