Boerne Little League Shines in Dominant Win at Little League World Series
After a commanding 9-0 victory over the Mid-Atlantic team from Newtown, Pennsylvania, the Boerne Little League players and coach shared their thoughts on the game on Thursday night.
The game-changing moment came when Kole Newson hit a grand slam in the top of the 5th inning. Reflecting on his powerful swing, Newson credited some minor adjustments that made a significant impact on his performance.
Newson’s father and Boerne’s head coach, Justin Newson, expressed the pride and joy of witnessing his son’s grand slam on such a grand stage.
Pitcher Julian Hurst also contributed significantly to the win by striking out 10 batters in just four innings, keeping the Mid-Atlantic team at bay.
Another standout player was Doc Mogford, who delivered a solo home run in the 5th inning to extend Boerne’s lead to 9-0. Mogford emphasized the importance of hitting line drives and putting pressure on the opposing team’s defense.
The Boerne team will enjoy a weekend break before facing the winner of the Southeast vs. Northwest game on Monday at 6 p.m.
