Boerne Little League Team Gets Champion’s Welcome Back to School
The members of the Boerne Little League baseball team are no strangers to receiving a hero’s welcome. After their impressive performance at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa, where they finished fourth overall, they returned home to a victorious celebration.
But the celebrations didn’t stop there. As the new school year kicked off, both middle schools in the Boerne Independent School District decided to give the boys a warm welcome back to reality. They organized separate parades in their hallways, with classmates, staff, cheerleaders, and drumlines all joining in to celebrate the team’s achievements.
Bryan Benway, the director of communications for BISD, shared that the boys were greeted with a championship welcome as they made their way through the school corridors. The spirit of community and camaraderie was evident as everyone came together to honor the team’s hard work and dedication.
While classes had officially started on August 12, the team had been away at the World Series, so Tuesday marked their first official day back at school. Despite their absence, they did not accrue any missed days, showcasing their commitment to both their education and their passion for baseball.
