President Joe Biden has announced his plans to visit areas impacted by Hurricane Helene this week, pending no disruptions to ongoing rescue and recovery efforts. Biden was briefed on Sunday evening about the widespread devastation caused by the storm across the Southeast.
Describing the storm’s impact as “stunning”, Biden emphasized that the administration is fully committed to providing states with all necessary resources to aid in their response efforts.
The tragic aftermath of Hurricane Helene was felt in North Carolina, where a county reported 30 storm-related deaths, contributing to a total death toll of at least 84 across multiple states.
In response to the crisis, Biden directed FEMA to expedite support to communities facing challenges in accessing assistance, particularly in isolated areas.
Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump’s campaign announced his visit to Valdosta, Georgia, to assess Helene’s impact on the state, with a focus on supporting relief efforts and delivering remarks during his visit.
