Bicyclist fatally struck in hit-and-run on Old Hwy 90, driver search ongoing

San Antonio police are on the lookout for a driver involved in a tragic hit-and-run incident that claimed the life of a bicyclist.

The heartbreaking incident took place around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, August 30.

Authorities reported that the driver was behind the wheel of a dark-colored four-door pickup truck with aftermarket wheels and a sign affixed to its driver’s side back door, heading east on Historic Old Highway 90.

Tragically, Samuel Arellano, aged 58, was crossing the street on his bicycle when he was struck by the pickup in the 200 block of Historic Old Highway 90. Arellano succumbed to the injuries sustained in the collision.

The driver of the pickup continued driving towards Commerce Street and is currently at large, evading authorities.
