Bexar County Sheriff Endorses Kamala Harris for President
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar made a powerful endorsement during his primetime speech at the Democratic National Convention, throwing his support behind 2024 presidential candidate Kamala Harris. Salazar did not hold back in his criticism of current Republican nominee Donald Trump, calling him a “self-serving man” who has failed to support Texas law enforcement officials.
In his speech, Salazar highlighted the issues at the U.S.-Mexico border, pointing out how Trump’s policies have worsened the situation. He referenced a bipartisan border security bill that Senate Republicans blocked, contrasting it with Harris’ track record of fighting crime at the border for years.
Salazar praised Harris for her efforts to stop traffickers, recounting her actions in Mexico to incarcerate those responsible. He emphasized the importance of protecting and serving the law, a philosophy shared by sheriff deputies along the U.S.-Mexico border.
“We fight like hell to protect our border,” Salazar declared. “When we fight, we win.”
With this endorsement, Harris gains a strong supporter in Sheriff Salazar, who believes in her ability to bring positive change to law enforcement and border security. It remains to be seen how this endorsement will impact the upcoming presidential election, but Sheriff Salazar’s words certainly carry weight in the Texas law enforcement community.
