The Untold Story of Barbra Streisand: A New Documentary in the Works
NEW YORK – A year after sharing her remarkable journey in a 1,000-page memoir, Barbra Streisand has given the green light for a multi-part documentary about her extraordinary life. This upcoming documentary will be directed by the talented Oscar winner, Frank Marshall.
The documentary, announced by Sony Music Vision, is currently in the works and is set to feature exclusive video footage, rare photographs, and unpublished audio recordings from Streisand’s personal collection. Renowned documentary maker Alex Gibney, known for his work on acclaimed films about musicians like Paul Simon and innovators like Steve Jobs, will be taking on the role of producer.
Expressing her excitement for the project, the 82-year-old Streisand said, “For years, I’ve been contemplating the best way to share the wealth of content that I’ve been safeguarding in my archives. These films, photographs, and music recordings, many of which have never been seen or heard before, hold some of my most beloved memories. I am thrilled that producer Alex Gibney and director Frank Marshall have agreed to embark on this journey with me.”
Marshall, known for his expertise in directing documentaries on legendary musicians like the Beach Boys and the Bee Gees, as well as producing blockbuster hits like “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “The Sixth Sense,” expressed his admiration for Streisand. He stated, “This documentary will showcase why she has become a timeless icon, cherished by a global audience spanning all generations.”
The project is being presented and distributed by Sony Music Vision in collaboration with Streisand’s long-standing record label, Columbia Records.
