Oklahoma Dominates Temple in Season Opener
NORMAN, Okla. – In a spectacular start to the season, Jackson Arnold led No. 16 Oklahoma to a resounding 51-3 victory over Temple. Arnold’s standout performance included four touchdown passes, three of which were caught by newcomer Deion Burks.
The Sooners showcased their dominance by forcing six turnovers and holding Temple to just 197 yards. This game marked Oklahoma’s first appearance as a member of the Southeastern Conference, following their move from the Big 12 over the summer.
Arnold, a sophomore, shone in his debut as a starting quarterback, completing 17 of 25 passes for 141 yards.
Burks, a transfer from Purdue, made a remarkable impact with his three touchdown catches in the first half alone. He finished the game with six receptions for 36 yards, exceeding his previous records at Purdue.
Freshman Taylor Tatum also made his mark, rushing for 66 yards and a touchdown on just four carries, showcasing his immense potential with a 35-yard burst.
By halftime, the Sooners had built a commanding 34-0 lead, thanks to their strong defensive performance that limited the Owls to just 80 yards and forced four turnovers.
