All we know about 12-year-old girl’s death, parents’ arrest in Atascosa County

In a tragic incident in Atascosa County, Texas, a 12-year-old girl named Miranda Sipps lost her life due to injuries that were left untreated by her mother and stepfather. Despite being a student at Jourdanton ISD with her 13th birthday just around the corner, Miranda’s life was cut short.

Her mother, Denise Balbaneda, and stepfather, Gerald Gonzales, are now facing charges for neglecting to seek medical help for her injuries. This heartbreaking case has shocked the community and raised questions about the circumstances surrounding Miranda’s untimely death.

The events unfolded when Balbaneda called 911 to report her daughter’s unconscious state. Emergency services rushed to the scene but sadly, it was too late to save Miranda. Investigations revealed that she had sustained severe injuries a few days before her tragic passing.

Despite the seriousness of Miranda’s injuries, her parents chose not to seek medical attention for her, opting instead to care for her at home. This neglectful decision ultimately cost Miranda her life. The couple’s actions, or lack thereof, have brought them under scrutiny and legal consequences.

The Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the case, with an autopsy report pending to shed light on the exact cause of Miranda’s death. The community, including Jourdanton ISD, where Miranda was a student, is reeling from the loss and offering support to those affected by this tragedy.

As the investigation continues, the full extent of the circumstances leading to Miranda’s death may come to light. This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the importance of seeking timely medical care for those in need, especially children.

This is an ongoing story, and as more details emerge, we will provide updates. Our thoughts remain with Miranda’s loved ones during this difficult time.
