The Countdown Begins for Alamo Heights Football: A New Era in District 13-5A-DII
The anticipation is building as the Alamo Heights football team gears up for their season debut in 2024 as part of District 13-5A-DII.
Under the Friday night lights, the Mules have been unstoppable, with blowout victories that have secured their dominance in the district since 2019.
“I know we all see that and we take it and we know that it means something,” said senior safety Max Bacon about the team’s impressive record. “Going forward, we’re going to use that to our advantage and have it push us to beat other teams.”
However, the road to victory may become more challenging as Alamo Heights faces new competition in the form of teams like Boerne, Veterans Memorial (SA), Victoria West, and more.
“We’re going to bring our A-game every time,” stated senior offensive lineman Ricky Gonzales. “We know we have tougher opponents, but we’re ready to rise to the challenge.”
Despite the new lineup, Alamo Heights is still favored to lead District 13-5A-DII, thanks to their strong track record and top talent like Michael Terry III.
The team’s focus is on playoff success over regular-season wins, and they are diligently preparing for the challenges ahead.
“It’s one thing to say you’ve won a lot of games, but it’s another to win those truly meaningful games that elevate the team,” said head coach Ron Rittimann.
The Mules will kick off their season on Sept. 6 at home against Churchill at 7 p.m.
