Goodbye to a Fashion Icon: Alberta Ferretti Steps Down
Italian designer Alberta Ferretti made a stunning announcement on Tuesday as she revealed her decision to step down as the creative director of the iconic brand she founded over 40 years ago.
In a heartfelt letter to her supporters, Ferretti expressed gratitude for their attendance at her final fashion show on Sept. 17th. She shared, “Yes, it’s time for me to make room for a new chapter for my brand, a new narrative. It was a difficult, complicated, but a very thoughtful choice.”
Despite stepping down, Ferretti reassured fans that the brand will continue to carry her name, and she plans to announce her successor soon.
Fashion conglomerate Aeffe, which includes brands like Alberta Ferretti, Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini, Moschino, and Pollini, confirmed that Ferretti will maintain her role as vice president of the group.
During her final show at Milan Fashion Week, Ferretti showcased her signature summery designs in a picturesque setting, underscoring the brand’s artisanal heritage.
Known for her gentle feminine silhouettes, Ferretti reflected on her journey from a family dressmaking shop to a global fashion powerhouse. Despite the brand’s growth, she remains true to her original vision, writing, “The Alberta of that day is in many ways still the Alberta of today.”
