Man Arrested for Dragging San Antonio Police Officer After Robbery
San Antonio police have arrested a 41-year-old man for dragging an officer across a parking lot after a robbery on the Northwest Side.
According to reports, the incident took place when the officer and another police officer arrived at a QT convenience store near the 1000 block of Huebner Road around 10 p.m. on Monday. An employee informed them that a man had just stolen beer and was fleeing in a blue 2022 Ford Mustang.
Attempting to apprehend the suspect, one of the officers approached the parked vehicle and opened the driver’s side door. However, instead of cooperating, the suspect accelerated the car with the officer still holding onto the door, as per the San Antonio Police Department.
The suspect drove recklessly across the parking lot with the officer hanging on before finally coming to a stop. The officer sustained minor injuries during the ordeal.
Following the incident, the man was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault of a peace officer, a first-degree felony. Additional charges include evading arrest with a vehicle, possession of a controlled substance, and theft of less than $2,500, elevated to a Class A misdemeanor.
