Second Gent. Emhoff to speak at rally in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – Second Gentleman of the United States Douglas Emhoff is set to make an appearance at a Democratic campaign rally in San Antonio on Monday.

The rally aims to address the “Freedom to Vote” following a lawsuit filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton against Bexar County commissioners regarding voter registration plans.

Democrats hope to counter Texas Republicans’ attempts to suppress voter turnout through this rally.

San Antonio garnered national attention when Paxton conducted searches at the homes of several Latino political organizers as part of an investigation into alleged voter fraud.

The League of United Latin American Citizens and Texas Democrats condemned these searches as voter intimidation and called for an investigation by the U.S. Justice Department into Paxton’s actions.

The rally will feature prominent Texas Democrats such as San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg, U.S. Rep Joaquin Castro, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, Bexar County Commissioner Tommy Calvert, former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro, and more.

The event is scheduled from 4-6 p.m. KSAT will have coverage of the rally and will provide updates throughout the evening.
