The Amazing Summer of Lydia Ko Continues with Victory at Kroger Queen City Championship
MAINEVILLE, Ohio – Lydia Ko extended her amazing summer run when she turned a two-shot deficit into a rout by closing with a 9-under 63 to win the Kroger Queen City Championship for her third LPGA Tour title of the season.
Ko, the 27-year-old from New Zealand, has been on fire lately, winning three of her last four starts, including the Olympic gold medal and the Women’s British Open at St. Andrews.
After her five-shot victory over Jeeno Thitikul at the TPC River’s Bend, Ko reflected on her incredible summer, saying, “It’s been pretty surreal.”
Thitikul, who was two shots ahead at one point in the final round, couldn’t keep up with Ko’s scorching play. Ko made key putts and birdies to surge ahead and claim the victory.
Nelly Korda, the No. 1 player in women’s golf, finished tied for fifth, nine shots behind Ko, who finished at 23-under 265 for the tournament.
This win marked Ko’s 22nd career LPGA victory and solidified her place in the LPGA Hall of Fame, an achievement she has been working towards for some time.
Next, Ko heads to South Korea to play in the Hana Financial Group Championship, where she has the opportunity to reach 30 career titles worldwide.
In conclusion, Lydia Ko’s summer dominance on the LPGA Tour continues to impress, and her recent victory at the Kroger Queen City Championship cements her status as one of the greatest players in women’s golf.
