SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Water System crews sprung into action on Friday afternoon to tackle a sewer spill located on the bustling Northwest Side of the city.
The incident unfolded in the 2500 block of Babcock Road, nestled in the heart of the vibrant Medical Center area. SAWS issued a statement later that evening, detailing the response from its dedicated team.
According to SAWS, the spill stemmed from a blockage in a substantial 15-foot sewer pipe. The diligent crews swiftly worked to clean up an estimated 50,000 gallons of domestic wastewater, ensuring the area was promptly restored.
SAWS highlighted that common culprits such as grease, wipes, and debris often lead to sewage spills not just in San Antonio but also across the nation. The utility stressed the importance of proper disposal practices to prevent such incidents in the future.
