KSAT anchor Sarah Acosta expecting first child, discusses ‘growing’ something new.

The following was written by KSAT anchor and reporter Sarah Acosta.

I am thrilled to share that my husband and I are expecting a baby girl, and we could not be more excited. As I navigate through this amazing journey of motherhood, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of the most memorable aspects of this experience so far.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family:

My husband and I value our privacy, especially on social media. We got married in March 2022, and we are looking forward to welcoming our baby girl around the same time our journey as a married couple began. Although we keep our lives low-key online, we are outgoing and fun in person, and my husband is more talkative than me, making for many lively conversations.

When did you find out you were having a girl?

The moment I found out we were having a girl was truly special. During a live shot for a 9/11 ceremony, I received the news and couldn’t contain my joy. A dear friend and colleague captured the raw emotion of that moment, which I will cherish forever.

What has your pregnancy experience been like?

My pregnancy has been challenging, filled with morning sickness, migraines, insomnia, and fatigue. While social media often portrays a glamorous view of pregnancy, I believe in sharing the real, unfiltered experience to provide support to other women facing similar difficulties.

Do you have names picked out?

We have chosen the name Odette for our daughter, inspired by a French nun known for her compassion and dedication to teaching. Naming our child after such a remarkable figure holds special significance for us, tying into our Catholic faith and values.

You’re already a pet and plant mom, how excited are you about your new “mom” role?

As I prepare to step into the role of a mother, I am filled with excitement and a sense of responsibility. My dogs, Scooby and Sister, have already sensed the impending change and have become even more protective of me, showcasing their loyalty in the sweetest ways.

What are you looking forward to most in motherhood?

Above all, I aspire to instill a deep sense of love and joy in my daughter, fostering a spirit of kindness and curiosity. I envision a beautiful bond filled with shared adventures, creative projects, and endless laughter.

What about your husband in fatherhood?

My husband approaches fatherhood with a profound sense of purpose, aiming to reflect God’s love through his actions and teachings. His dedication to nurturing our daughter’s spirit and guiding her with compassion truly exemplifies the essence of fatherhood.

What’s one lesson that you learned from your parents that you want to teach your child?

Growing up, my parents demonstrated sacrificial love in different ways, balancing selflessness with self-care. I hope to impart this valuable lesson to my daughter, guiding her with the same warmth and wisdom that shaped my upbringing.
