WASHINGTON – Exciting news from the Supreme Court as an emergency appeal from Nevada’s Green Party has been rejected, impacting presidential candidate Jill Stein’s ballot inclusion in the battleground state.
The court’s decision on Friday, supported by all, enables ballot preparation in Nevada to proceed without Stein and other Green Party candidates.
Democrats celebrate this victory as they successfully contested the Greens’ ballot inclusion in a state known for tight races. With President Joe Biden beating former President Donald Trump by less than 35,000 votes in Nevada, this decision holds great significance.
Following the Green party’s submission of enough signatures to include Stein, the state’s Democratic party filed a lawsuit to remove her from the ballot. While a lower state court ruled in Stein’s favor, the state Supreme Court found issues with the petition forms, leading to her exclusion.
Notably, Jay Sekulow, a Trump ally and part of the president’s legal team during his first impeachment trial, represented the Green Party at the Supreme Court.
Beyond Nevada, a Republican network is strategically working to influence November’s election in favor of Trump by supporting third-party candidates like Stein and Cornel West, who could draw votes away from Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee.
