The Latest Updates on the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
Palestinian authorities report that 15 people were killed overnight in the Gaza Strip due to multiple Israeli attacks.
An airstrike early Friday morning in Gaza City struck a family home, resulting in the deaths of six people, including an unknown number of children, as reported by Gaza’s Civil Defense. Another person was killed in Gaza City when a strike hit a group of people on a street.
Israel claims it only targets militants and accuses Hamas and other armed groups of putting civilians at risk by operating in residential areas. The Israeli military had no immediate comment on the specific strikes.
Gaza’s Health Ministry has reported that more than 41,000 Palestinians have died in the territory since Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack. The ministry does not differentiate between fighters and civilians in its count but states that slightly over half of those killed were women and children.
Meanwhile, tensions are rising as the leader of Lebanon’s Hezbollah vows to retaliate for deadly attacks on its communication devices following Israel’s defense minister announcing a “new phase” of the war. Concerns are mounting that months of back-and-forth attacks between the two sides could escalate into full-scale war.
Hezbollah has initiated strikes against Israel almost immediately after Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack that ignited the Israel-Hamas war, bringing them close to all-out war on multiple occasions.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing situation as tensions continue to rise in the region.
