San Antonio police shoot, kill man wanted for robbery.

SAN ANTONIO – A dramatic turn of events unfolded in San Antonio as a 35-year-old man, who was under active police surveillance, was shot and killed by officers after fleeing the scene of a robbery. SAPD Chief William McManus revealed that the suspect had been involved in four robberies this month and had an outstanding warrant for a previous aggravated robbery.

The fatal shooting took place on Thursday evening in the 1400 block of Cantrell Drive on the South Side of the city.

According to McManus, undercover officers had been tailing the man as he committed a robbery at a store. Initially planning to intercept him at a specified address, officers decided to initiate a traffic stop instead.

However, as officers attempted to pull the man over, he accelerated down Cantrell Drive and made a break on foot. The situation escalated when he ran into a fence and brandished a weapon at the police, prompting them to open fire.

Tragically, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

This was the second officer-involved shooting in San Antonio on that fateful Thursday. Earlier in the day, a woman was shot by an SAPD officer in the Medical Center area after allegedly wielding a firearm in public. Details regarding the woman’s identity and potential charges are still pending.
