BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – Tragedy struck at Bexar County Jail as a 50-year-old inmate, Paul Anthony Sarabia, passed away due to a medical episode caused by withdrawal symptoms. The incident occurred during Sarabia’s booking process on Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Bexar County Jail.
Sadly, despite the medical staff’s best efforts, Sarabia succumbed to his condition the following day at a local hospital as reported by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. It is believed that the inmate suffered the medical episode due to withdrawal from substances.
The official cause of Sarabia’s death will be determined by the Bexar County Medical Examiner. His unfortunate passing marks the third death of a Bexar County Jail inmate since August.
The Texas Commission on Jail Standards is actively involved in the case, and the BCSO Internal Affairs Unit has launched an administrative investigation into the matter.
