NEW YORK – When it comes to celebrating the essence of New York City and embracing a nautical theme, Tommy Hilfiger knows how to make a splash. His recent showcase at New York Fashion Week was nothing short of spectacular, as he combined these elements in a stunning fashion show aboard a decommissioned ferry boat.
The event was more than just a runway show; it was a full experience that culminated in a rap-filled finale featuring iconic artists like Ghostface Killah, Method Man, and Raekwon from the Wu-Tang Clan. The electrifying musical performance, curated by Questlove, added an extra layer of excitement to the already lively atmosphere.
Hilfiger shared his inspiration for the show, stating, “We’re inspired by nautical this season, but it’s nautical, preppy, collegiate, all-American, and modern. So we needed to showcase it on or near the water. Then we found out the Staten Island Ferry was available.”
The choice to use the John F. Kennedy ferry provided a unique backdrop for the event, as it offered a blend of nostalgia and modernity. With influences from sailing heritage and casual coastal styles, the Spring 2025 collection showcased Hilfiger’s signature aesthetic of vibrant Ivy League fashion fused with everyday functionality.
Guests were treated to a variety of refreshments, from Champagne to hot dogs, in custom boxes with exclusive Hilfiger merchandise. The event drew a star-studded crowd, including celebrities like Brooke Shields, Shay Mitchell, and Madelyn Cline, who praised the collection and the unique venue.
