The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office recently released dashcam footage capturing a dramatic incident involving a deputy and a suspect in west Bexar County.
The footage dates back to July 16, 2024, as Deputy Steven Antu was responding to a report of a man, later identified as 20-year-old Ivan Castillo, waving a gun from a car window on Culebra Road.
The pursuit unfolded as Antu followed Castillo, who was seen brandishing the weapon multiple times. Eventually, Castillo stopped his vehicle in a neighborhood, swiftly exited, dropped the gun, picked it up, and fled.
The intense chase culminated in Antu striking Castillo at 24 miles per hour, capturing the crucial moment on the dashcam footage. Following the incident, Castillo received medical attention but luckily avoided serious harm.
BCSO revealed that the gun recovered from Castillo was fully loaded, underscoring the dangerous nature of the situation. Subsequently, Castillo faced charges of evading arrest.
As the investigation continues, Antu was initially placed on administrative leave and later assigned administrative duties. The precise timeline and details of the medical response remain unclear as the case progresses.
