Medina Lake Cajun Festival: Bringing Community Together

LAKEHILLS, Texas – Despite low water levels, the Medina Lake community is as strong as ever.

“Here brings everybody together,” said Barbera Engle, a board member for the Lakehills Community Center.

The Lakehills Community Center is gearing up for its largest fundraiser yet.

The team is counting down the days to the Medina Lake Cajun Festival, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. This year, uniting the community holds even more significance.

“Oh, yes,” Engle said. “We have to keep this going.”

Despite record-low water levels this summer, the Medina Lake community remains resilient. The recent rain has provided some relief, but the center acknowledges that the festival is its primary source of funding.

“Without the Cajun Festival, we wouldn’t be,” said Gary Cox, a Lakehills Community Center board member.

“What does a place like this mean to you?” KSAT 12 News reporter Avery Everett asked.

“Everything,” Cox said.

As final preparations take place, the people of Lakehills are optimistic about the future.

“It’s hard work, but it’s fun,” Engle said.
