Unbelievable Discovery in New Hartford, N.Y.!
Have you ever seen a 13-foot Burmese python up close? Well, one was recently confiscated in upstate New York from a man who was keeping this impressive snake in a small tank! The sheer size and beauty of this creature is truly mesmerizing.
The state Department of Environmental Conservation received a complaint regarding an illegally owned snake in New Hartford, and upon investigation, they found this massive snake in a surprisingly small tank for its size.
Weighing 80 pounds and measuring 13 feet 2 inches in length, this Burmese python was in good health and still growing. With its striking yellow color and unique pattern on its head, it’s no wonder this snake caught the attention of many.
The snake was relocated to the Fort Rickey Discovery Zoo in Rome, where it now resides in a suitable environment with the necessary permits. The owner, taken aback by the rapid growth of the snake, was ticketed for owning wildlife without proper permits.
Burmese pythons are native to southeast Asia but have become popular pets in the United States, despite being considered an invasive species in Florida due to their impact on native wildlife. These fascinating creatures can grow up to 16 feet long, making them both impressive and challenging pets.
