San Antonio Weather Report: August 2024 RecapAugust Temperature HighlightsAugust Rainfall RecapSummer ClimaxLooking Ahead to September

August 2024 was a sizzling month for San Antonio, ranking as the third-hottest on record. The Alamo City experienced a scorching summer, with June, July, and August combined marking the fifth-hottest summer in history. Records for this Texas city date back to the mid-1880s, highlighting the consistent trend of rising temperatures over the years.

August Temperature Highlights

  • Coolest morning low: 72 degrees on August 29
  • Hottest afternoon high: 108 degrees on August 21
  • Average monthly temperature: 88.7 degrees, 3.2 degrees above average

August 2024 brought extreme heat to the region, with 15 days hitting triple-digit temperatures, including a stretch of 13 consecutive scorching days. These soaring temperatures pushed the city’s average above historical norms.

August Rainfall Recap

  • Monthly rainfall total: 0.38 inches
  • Highest daily rainfall total: 0.15 inches on August 27
  • Number of days with measurable rainfall: 4

Unfortunately, August 2024 was drier than average, with only 0.38 inches of rainfall accumulating throughout the month. This deficit contributes to a below-average year-to-date total, underscoring the importance of water conservation and sustainable practices.

Summer Climax

The summer of 2024 clinched the fifth-hottest spot in San Antonio’s history, falling just short of the scorching temperatures observed in the previous year. Despite a brief respite of cooler weather in late July, the overall summer trend remained hot and arid.

Looking Ahead to September

  • September typically receives an average monthly rainfall of 3.88 inches.
  • Temperatures are expected to gradually cool throughout the month.

As we head into September, San Antonio residents anticipate the potential for more rainfall as the city enters its second-wettest month of the year. The gradual decrease in temperatures from the high 90s to the mid-80s provides some relief from the summer heat, signaling the transition to the milder fall season.

Stay tuned for upcoming weather updates and tips to stay cool!
