The Battle for Rudy Giuliani’s Assets: Georgia Election Workers Seek Payment
NEW YORK – Two former Georgia election workers who won a $148 million defamation judgment against Rudy Giuliani are ramping up efforts to collect on the staggering debt. Ruby Freeman and Wandrea “Shaye” Moss have asked a court to award them Giuliani’s apartment, cash, and prized New York Yankees memorabilia as they seek payment for the damages.
Lawyers for Freeman and Moss are urging the U.S. District Court in Manhattan to force Giuliani to turn over his Madison Avenue apartment, any remaining cash, and valuable items such as three World Series rings and a signed Joe DiMaggio shirt. They are also staking a claim to about $2 million Giuliani says the Trump campaign owes him and seeking to take control of his Palm Beach, Florida, condominium through the legal process of receivership.
Following the collapse of Giuliani’s bankruptcy case last month, Freeman and Moss are looking to collect what he owes them. If Giuliani does not comply with the court’s orders, his property could be seized to satisfy the judgment.
In response, Giuliani’s spokesperson criticized the filing as an attempt to harass him while he appeals the defamation judgment. The legal battle highlights the ongoing tension between the former mayor and the election workers he wrongfully targeted.
Giuliani filed for bankruptcy last December after the defamation judgment was handed down. The women have accused him of using the bankruptcy process to evade his debts. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Sean Lane dismissed the case in July, allowing Freeman and Moss to pursue legal remedies to recoup what they are owed.
Giuliani’s legal woes extend beyond the defamation case – he was recently disbarred in New York and faces the possibility of losing his law license in Washington. In Georgia and Arizona, he is also facing criminal charges related to his actions following the 2020 election.
As the battle over Giuliani’s assets continues, Freeman and Moss are seeking to collect on the judgment through various means, including seizing his properties and valuable possessions. The outcome of this legal saga will have far-reaching implications for both parties involved.
