Improvements in San Antonio Restaurants Following Health Inspections
Months after receiving low scores on their health inspections, two San Antonio restaurants have shown significant improvements according to new scores.
Golden Wok
Golden Wok, located at 1410 SW Loop 410, is a popular Chinese restaurant known for its busy lunchtime crowds. In December 2023, the restaurant received a score of 69 with 22 violations. However, in August, their score jumped to a 96, showcasing a remarkable 27-point improvement. Customers have noted the positive changes, with one stating, “They paid attention.”
Mary Chula Mexican Food
Mary Chula Mexican Food, located at 5019 W Commerce, also made a significant improvement, earning a score of 94 on its June 2024 inspection. After receiving a score of 76 in November 2023, inspectors ordered a reinspection due to cleanliness issues. Owner Perla Gonzales welcomed KSAT behind the scenes as she prepared tortillas and mentioned how she addresses violations with her employees. While the current score of 94 reflects the restaurant’s positive changes, Gonzales emphasized that there is always room for improvement.
Score Guide:
100-90 = A (Very Good to Acceptable)
89-80 = B (Acceptable to Marginal)
79 or lower = C (Marginal to Poor)
