Alfonso Cuarón, Cate Blanchett debut ‘Disclaimer’ at Venice Fest

Welcome to the Venice Film Festival, where Oscar-winning filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón premiered his latest project, the seven-part AppleTV+ series “Disclaimer.” In a unique twist, Cuarón approached the series as he would a film, drawing inspiration from renowned directors like Fassbinder, Lynch, and Kieślowski.

Based on Renée Knight’s novel, “Disclaimer” is a psychological thriller starring Cate Blanchett as Catherine Ravenscroft, a character who discovers her darkest secret revealed in a novel. The series, set to stream on October 11, follows Catherine as she navigates this unsettling revelation alongside Kevin Kline, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

With an impressive cast and crew, including cinematographers Emmanuel Lubezki and Bruno Delbonnel, Cuarón crafted a visually stunning and emotionally gripping series that blurs the lines between film and television. The journey to bring “Disclaimer” to life was a challenging one, but the results speak for themselves.

As the final episodes of “Disclaimer” screen at the festival, audiences and critics alike are eagerly anticipating this unique addition to the Venice Film Festival lineup. Alongside other notable series like Joe Wright’s “M: Son of the Century” and Thomas Vinterberg’s “Families Like Ours,” Cuarón’s unconventional approach to storytelling is sure to leave a lasting impact.
