Welcome to the White House Chronicles!
WASHINGTON – President Joe Biden is set to embark on a journey to southwest Wisconsin on Sept. 5, shining a spotlight on small towns and rural areas to showcase his initiatives aimed at reducing costs and promoting renewable energy and advanced manufacturing.
A White House official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, revealed this insight into the president’s upcoming travels.
Wisconsin holds significant importance in the upcoming presidential election, with Democrats viewing it as a crucial state. President Biden’s victory in the state in 2020, by a slim margin of around 20,000 votes, flipped Wisconsin to the Democratic camp after Trump’s narrow win in 2016.
Following his decision to withdraw from the presidential race and endorse his vice president, Biden is ramping up his public appearances. Both Harris and Biden are scheduled to visit Pittsburgh as part of the Labor Day celebrations.
The 2020 AP VoteCast survey highlighted that nearly half of Wisconsin voters hailed from small towns and rural areas, with a majority of them supporting Trump. To enhance their chances in the upcoming election, Democrats need to bridge this gap.
One of the focuses of Biden’s visit will be on the policies outlined in the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act. Though it did not have an immediate impact on inflation, the law aimed to cut costs for Medicare recipients, enable government negotiations on prescription drug prices, promote renewable energy adoption, and enhance tax collection from affluent individuals.
