Carlos Alcaraz ready to face challenges at the U.S. Open
Carlos Alcaraz had a brief scare during a U.S. Open training session when he twisted his right ankle, but the Spanish player remains confident that it won’t hinder his performance at the year’s final Grand Slam tournament.
Reflecting on his ankle twist, Alcaraz explained, “I think it is OK. I just stopped my practice just for precaution. I didn’t feel comfortable enough to keep practicing, just in case if everything is going to be worse.”
Despite the minor setback, Alcaraz is focused on gunning for his third consecutive Grand Slam title after winning the French Open and Wimbledon earlier this year. He expressed his determination, stating, “I don’t want to stop any practice. I want to practice, I want to get better, I want to get ready for the tournament.”
Alcaraz is scheduled to play his first-round match against Li Tu on Tuesday night, and he remains optimistic about his readiness for the tournament despite the lack of hard-court matches in his preparation.
Looking back on past challenges, Alcaraz mentioned his recent silver medal win at the Paris Olympics and vowed to approach future matches differently, learning from his experiences.
