SAN ANTONIO – Good news for residents on the Northwest Side of San Antonio! A recent sewer spill is not expected to cause any adverse impacts, according to a press release from the San Antonio Water System (SAWS).
The incident, which occurred on Friday, was caused by a damaged sewer main and resulted in an estimated 50,000 gallons of domestic wastewater being released. While this may have potentially affected Zarzamora Creek, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has stated that no negative consequences are anticipated.
SAWS crews were quick to respond to the spill, which took place in the 2500 block of Babcock Road near the Medical Center. By Friday night, they had already contained and begun cleanup efforts at the site.
Due to the volume of the spill exceeding the threshold for public notice, TCEQ issued a notification to ensure that residents were informed about the incident. SAWS assured the public that they are taking all necessary steps to address the situation and prevent any further impact.
