Boerne, Texas – The Boerne all-star baseball team is on the brink of being crowned Little League World Series champions in the U.S. division, with a chance to clinch the title at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday.
A victory for the undefeated American team could mark the first Texas-based baseball championship since 1966.
Win or lose, this baseball team’s success adds to an already impressive year of achievements for the small Hill Country community.
Boerne’s high school sports teams have also had their share of success this past year, bringing in numerous accolades and performing well in postseason competitions.
Let’s take a closer look at some of these remarkable achievements.
Starting with Elizabeth Leachman, a standout runner from Boerne Champion High School who secured UIL state championships in the 3200 and 1600-meter runs. Leachman, just a sophomore, made her debut at the USA Track & Field Olympic Trials at the age of 16, becoming the town’s most decorated athlete.
In addition to Leachman’s extraordinary achievements, Boerne’s soccer and football teams have also made their mark. Both the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams reached the state championship, with the boys clinching two state titles in 2021 and 2022. The football teams, Greyhounds and Chargers, advanced to the area rounds in the postseason with impressive performances.
Despite some setbacks, the town of Boerne has enjoyed a string of victories across various sports. The Little League baseball team’s journey is just one more chapter in the city’s success story.
