Identified: Man, woman found dead in Shavano Park murder-suicide

SHAVANO PARK, Texas – The tranquil suburb of Shavano Park was rocked by a tragic incident that unfolded early Wednesday morning. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the individuals involved as 61-year-old Jerry Hernandez and 62-year-old Sonia Hernandez, in what appears to be a heartbreaking murder-suicide.

City manager Bill Hill confirmed that the grim discovery was made before 8 a.m., when police were summoned to the 100 block of Cinnamon Oak after reports of gunshots rang out in the peaceful neighborhood.

Sadly, upon arrival, officers found Jerry and Sonia deceased inside their home, leaving the community in shock and disbelief.

Authorities have stated that they are not seeking any other suspects in connection with the tragedy, indicating that this was likely an isolated incident.

As the community mourns this terrible loss, it serves as a reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and seeking help when needed.

If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health issues or thoughts of suicide, please do not hesitate to reach out for help. You can call 988 or text TALK to 741-741 for immediate assistance.

Additionally, organizations like the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) and the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) are available to provide support. You can contact them at 210-223-7233 (SAFE) or 800-316-9241, or simply text NAMI to 741-741.
